I remind you of the original BSG introduction:

"There are some who even believe that life down here started out there"

given that the ending is obvious....

According to the editors of Analog (and before it, Astounding) & Asimov magazines, the #1 worst bad, cheesy, Sci-Fi cliche that should NEVER be done, because it has been so overdone, and done so usually badly, is "And the characters ended up as Adam & Eve/the ancestors of modern humans".

New BSG not only did it, but even managed to do it even more badly than normal*, so most of the fans they had (and subsequently lost with that abominable last episode) probably won't even give Caprica a chance.

* There were too many anachronisms, from the fact that they mention minor religions that were contemporary with the END of the Greco-Roman era, to the fact that there were ships in the fleet named for 20th CENTURY EARTH BATTLEFIELDS, that their ending was JUST NOT VIABLE (then there's the whole Bob Dylan song thing). They really need to take the last episode, discard everything past the point of the Galactica coming over the Moon after the jump, and do a more reasonable ending.

Given the fact that the recent Battlestar Galactica had so little to do with the original Battlestar Galactica as to be almost unrecognizable, I find it easy to believe they would simply graft another storyline onto theirs.

It's not like the plot of BS makes much sense, after all.

(Ooh, I got bitchy there, didn't I?)
