I don’t think it was all that recent. When I was in elementary school, and all of us kids were really into ‘Where’s Waldo’, we all knew about the boobie [it, along with Waldo, was circled in most library copies of the book]; by then, there were three Waldo books out, but, if you went to the store and looked at new copies of the first one, it didn’t have the boob in it anymore.

Obviously, all the people who thought Madeline was an orphan didn’t pay attention when reading the FIRST BOOK! I quote (from when her fellow boarding school “sisters” visit her in the hospital):

“In they walked and then said ah!
When they saw the toys and dollhouse from Papa.”

At least, I think that’s the exact quote… I may have misquoted the “toys and dollhouse” part. But it does explicitly refer to her father!

Wait I take some of it back. Upon closer examination it appears that it is just the person’s arm and shoulder giving the appearance. He does seem to have his shorts on.
However, the girl next to him is clearly topless and showing as much cleavage as the one that caused the ban in the first place. Right next to Waldo! Will these wardrobe malfunctions never stop?

Whee! I found Waldo in your “clean” picture. Over his left shoulder, however, there seems to be something more shocking going on than a side-nipple view. A clothed woman seems to be holding her hand on a naked person’s crotch. Whether the reciever is male or female is impossible to determine, as the upper-half of their body is obscured.
Even if it is a perspective issue, we have another nude bather.

I wonder if Where’s Wally was changed because of its similarity to “Where’s Wallace,” an earlier look-and-find book by the great Hilary Knight. “Where’s Wallace” is, by the way, an oft overlooked masterpiece.
