Oh really? So weird. I didn't recall them being out of the city in the first film. Fair enough, UA, I'll edit that part! Thanks!

I'm two years late, but it's worth noting for the sake of accuracy that the group photo of the Turtles up there is actually from the first live action film, not the third as noted. The suits looked noticeably different in the third film.

I'm pretty sure there's a reference to Don Ameche in some prominent thing that I saw as a kid (but was still widely seen in the late '70s) - a Looney Tunes cartoon, or perhaps "I Love Lucy." IIRC, it was a more explicit reference to someone named "Don Ameche" (as opposed to the more indirect usage of Ameche as a synonym for telephone.) But I remember asking who Don Ameche was, and learning the meaning of the reference (though I still haven't seen his Bell movie....)

I thought everyone already knew the Don Ameche story. I've read about the term in several books about language or popular culture. I've never actually heard anyone use the term in real life, though.

Ha, Frank!

I was wondering why Acker sounded so familiar, I totally forgot about Amy Acker.

Thanks a lot, Matt, that's really helpful in explaining that, yes, the term WAS actually used that way!

Army of Darkness vs TMNT. Coming soon, from Dynamic Forces!

And I kept expecting a last second revelation that Amy Acker was Jean Acker's granddaughter. Ha!

Stripper Barbara Stanwyck calls a phone an Ameche in 1941's "Ball of Fire" and then explains to professor of slang Gary Cooper "You know, like the movie".

Eddie Murphy has a great line about "Trading Spaces": "This is Ed Bellamy's 99th movie, Don Ameche's 49th movie, and my second movie, so, between the three of us, we've made 150 movies."
