Regarding the Small World ride, my family got stuck on a boat right in front of a speaker for about 15 minutes in the 1980s in the Disney World incarnation of the ride. Suffice it to say that it has been a running gag ever since.

"Gill was interesting in his ideas on the “rights” of artists regarding their work - he was basically of the mind that the artist did not control the work. He felt that the person who commissions the work should totally control the work."

Any artist who doesn't agree with that sentiment shouldn't take a commission.

Yeah, that's a good one, Mike. I actually considered that one, but I decided to ultimately go with the name-writing one.

I had the pleasure of seeing La Pieta in person at the New York World's Fair of 1964 to 65. Yeah, I'm afraid I'm that old. But it wasn't all such sublime pleasure. I also sat through this:

Here's a Pieta-in-America Legend revealed: Did you know the Vatican made a full-scale replica of La Pieta and shipped it to New York first, to test if the sculpture could be delivered intact? It remained in the U.S. after the original was returned, and is on display at St. Joseph's Seminary and College in Yonkers, New York.
