BEFORE the film of the same name came out and was a big hit."

Footloose was a musical with all original songs.  The Kenny Loggins song was released prior to the film as part of the marketing plans for the picture (MTV was in it's infancy after all).  The special features on the Footloose DVD go into details on  this and many other aspects of the production.</description>
