My thoughts, exactly. Still, that sounds like an awesome movie.

Considering I hear “With One Look” pretty much every other time I stop in Marie’s Crisis or Don’t Tell Mama (look them up), I’d say there was at least one.

Just to confirm, the Muppets were never going to star in Into the Woods. The film was just going to be produced by Jim Henson Pictures, featuring puppets built by their workshop.

A film adapatation of Into the Woods sounds right up the Henson companies ally, particularly in relation to Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and especially the Storyteller tv series which relatively faithfully adapted European folk tales.

Cat – Sunset Boulevard also sprung to my mind too, but I ruled it out because, as Frank Rich calls it, it was a flop-hit. It did run on Broadway for over two years, but it ended up losing money due to overwhelmingly huge production costs. Also, I don’t think that musical will or now (or even 17 years later – yikes, I’m old. SB was the first musical I ever on Broadway) be/is much celebrated. Hell, is there even one memorable song from the show?

There are lots of commerical hit musicals in the history musical theatre, but you’d be surprised how many of those have faded into obscurity.

In any case, perhaps Brian meant: has there been any relative Webber hit post ‘Phantom’? By the way, just read that Phantom II will be debuting soon. ::shudders::

Did Andrew Lloyd Webber have a hit musical after that song came out? Yes. It was Sunset Boulevard in 1994. Did fantastic in London and had Glenn Close wanting (and getting) the prime role for the opening in LA (opened in LA before Broadway).

Admittedly, his other two didn’t do as well, but that one did very well.

Pointless trivia for today: Sondheim and Lloyd Webber are born on the same day…20 years apart.

A Muppets Into the Woods?!? SO very, very awesome! Now that Disney is in the process of reinvigorating their Muppets franchise, maybe this project will be resurrected. Ah, a Sondheim and Muppet fangirl can only dream.

Also, I’m guessing the script also eliminated the Baker’s Wife and Prince’s “moment in the woods.”
