Ally was just cup up previous season episode reruns and not worth watching. It made it easier to syndicate though.

Couple of things. First, it’s legendary writer/producer ROY Huggins, not Rod.

Thanks, Mike! I'll fix that (and the Bonanza stuff, John!).

When I saw the subject for this legend, I assumed you meant Chico And The Man

And when I saw it, I assumed it was going to be about Jon-Erik Hexum (formerly of the time travel show VOYAGERS) shooting himself in the head on the set of COVER UP, thinking blanks were harmless.

"Jon-Erik Hexum's Fatal Joke"

Mary,

But twice a week is an unheard of schedule for a prime time American show (not counting reality shows and news magazines, or shows that air a rerun on another night). I haven’t been able to think of any other examples.

Batman.

I was going to bring up Bonanza, but somebody else already mentioned it. When I saw the subject for this legend, I assumed you meant Chico And The Man, but I guess I had a different idea for what 'continued production' meant.

Ally McBeal was so hot for a while that it actually became TWO weekly series. In addition to the regular hour on Mondays, they also had a half-hour show on Tuesday or Wednesday. I heard that they used scenes from the regular hour show edited together with previously deleted scenes to make more of a traditional situation comedy, or something like that. But I'm not sure. I never got around to seeing the half-hour version (I think I'd just started watching the regular hour about that time), and I might not have the details right. For one reason or another, the short version never caught on, and it didn't last long.

Couple of things. First, it's legendary writer/producer ROY Huggins, not Rod.

Second is more of a quibble. Larson did not create MAGNUM, PI on his own. He's credited as co-creator/executive producer with Donald Bellisario, and to be honest it always struck me as more of a Bellisario show (NCIS, JAG, etc.). But I only mention that because I'm more a Bellisario fan and not much of a Larson admirer.

This show isn't why a lot of folks will remember Roger Davis, though. That would be for his years as one of the ensemble cast of DARK SHADOWS.

Whoa, there Buckaroo!
Bonanza was still going strong for at least two more seasons, along with Gunsmoke.
I remember Alias Smith and Jones, and Duel's accidental suicide. Sad.
And are you familiar with Rich Little taking over for Stacy Keach as Mike Hammer, following Keach's drug arrest in England? Granted, it was voiceovers, still... LOL
