Click <a href=\"http:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/2009\/04\/19\/tv-legends-revealed-history\/\">here<\/a> to view an archive of the TV urban legends featured so far.<\/p>\n<p><u><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">TV URBAN LEGEND<\/span><\/u>: A sketch written for a 1975 episode of Saturday Night Live ended up being used fourteen years later on the show.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Davis and Al Franken were early writers on Saturday Night Live, staying with the show for its entire first five year run.<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/20080225_alfranken_3.jpg\" alt=\"20080225_alfranken_3\" title=\"20080225_alfranken_3\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-440\" \/><\/center><\/p>\n<p>They were working on the show when, during the 18th episode of the first season, the actress Racquel Welch hosted the show.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/myra-breckinridge-raquel-welch.jpg\" alt=\"myra-breckinridge-raquel-welch\" title=\"myra-breckinridge-raquel-welch\" width=\"500\" height=\"643\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/myra-breckinridge-raquel-welch.jpg 500w, https:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/myra-breckinridge-raquel-welch-233x300.jpg 233w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That particular show is famous for being the episode where Lorne Michaels first made his &#8220;offer&#8221; to the Beatles to reunite for $3,000.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/beatlesoffer.jpg\" alt=\"beatlesoffer\" title=\"beatlesoffer\" width=\"380\" height=\"260\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-441\" srcset=\"https:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/beatlesoffer.jpg 380w, https:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/beatlesoffer-300x205.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px\" \/><iframe src=\"http:\/\/rcm.amazon.com\/e\/cm?t=legenrevea-20&#038;o=1&#038;p=8&#038;l=as1&#038;asins=B000JLQPYK&#038;fc1=000000&#038;IS2=1&#038;lt1=_blank&#038;m=amazon&#038;lc1=0000FF&#038;bc1=000000&#038;bg1=FFFFFF&#038;f=ifr\" style=\"width:120px;height:240px;\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>During that episode, according to Doug Hill and Jeff Weingrad&#8217;s book, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0688050999?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=legenrevea-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=0688050999\">Saturday Night: A Backstage History of Saturday Night Live<\/a><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=legenrevea-20&#038;l=as2&#038;o=1&#038;a=0688050999\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/>, Franken and Davis wrote a sketch called Planet of the Enormous Hooters, which would be a take-off a Twilight Zone episode where a beautiful woman is ostracized because everyone else on the planet is hideous. In the sketch, Racquel Welch&#8217;s breasts would be considered puny to the people of the Planet of the Enormous Hooters. The sketch ran at dress, but Welch did not like it, so it was dropped.<\/p>\n<p>You would figure that would be it, right?<\/p>\n<p>Wrong!<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nAs mentioned earlier, Franken and Davis left the show when Lorne Michaels left after the fifth season of the show.<\/p>\n<p>However, in 1985, the writing pair RETURNED to the show. <\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/franken-and-davis.jpg\" alt=\"franken-and-davis\" title=\"franken-and-davis\" width=\"192\" height=\"241\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-439\" \/><\/center><\/p>\n<p>And in 1989, they re-used their sketch from 1975, this time for Host Dolly Parton.<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/dollypartonsfm001.jpg\" alt=\"dollypartonsfm001\" title=\"dollypartonsfm001\" width=\"400\" height=\"494\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-443\" srcset=\"https:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/dollypartonsfm001.jpg 400w, https:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/dollypartonsfm001-242x300.jpg 242w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Parton was happy to do it, and the sketch made it to air this time around&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/tv_snl_dolly_parton000x0450x285.jpeg\" alt=\"tv_snl_dolly_parton000x0450x285\" title=\"tv_snl_dolly_parton000x0450x285\" width=\"450\" height=\"285\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/tv_snl_dolly_parton000x0450x285.jpeg 450w, https:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/tv_snl_dolly_parton000x0450x285-300x190.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/center><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/snltranscripts.jt.org\/88\/88qhooters.phtml\">Here<\/a>&#8216;s a neat site with a transcript of the sketch.<\/p>\n<p>Fourteen years after the sketch was written, Al Franken and Tom Davis got their sketch on the air (it&#8217;s a little bit like the opening episode of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip).
