Click <a href=\"http:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/2009\/04\/19\/movie-legends-revealed-history\/\">here<\/a> to view an archive of the movie urban legends featured so far.<\/p>\n<p><u><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">MOVIE URBAN LEGEND<\/span><\/u>: An actress took on the name of the character she was playing in a film. <\/p>\n<p>Wouldn&#8217;t it be odd if Daniel Radcliffe were to announce that, from this point forth, he would be known as Harry Potter?<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/radcliffe.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><iframe src=\"http:\/\/rcm.amazon.com\/e\/cm?t=legenrevea-20&#038;o=1&#038;p=8&#038;l=as1&#038;asins=B001DPHDJ2&#038;fc1=000000&#038;IS2=1&#038;lt1=_blank&#038;m=amazon&#038;lc1=0000FF&#038;bc1=000000&#038;bg1=FFFFFF&#038;f=ifr\" style=\"width:120px;height:240px;\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>And yet, that&#8217;s exactly what happened with the star of 1934&#8217;s Anne of Green Gables.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nAnne of Green Gables was a 1908 novel by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery, about a young girl named Anne Shirley who is accidentally adopted by a pair of middle-aged siblings (they were expecting an adolescent <strong>boy<\/strong> to help them on their farm) to live on their farm, called Green Gables.<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/anne.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><iframe src=\"http:\/\/rcm.amazon.com\/e\/cm?t=legenrevea-20&#038;o=1&#038;p=8&#038;l=as1&#038;asins=1402714513&#038;fc1=000000&#038;IS2=1&#038;lt1=_blank&#038;m=amazon&#038;lc1=0000FF&#038;bc1=000000&#038;bg1=FFFFFF&#038;f=ifr\" style=\"width:120px;height:240px;\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>It was a very popular book and spawned a series of novels about Anne and her small town of Avonlea. <\/p>\n<p>It was so popular that it received a film adaptation in 1934.<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/green-gables.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><iframe src=\"http:\/\/rcm.amazon.com\/e\/cm?t=legenrevea-20&#038;o=1&#038;p=8&#038;l=as1&#038;asins=B000085EF8&#038;fc1=000000&#038;IS2=1&#038;lt1=_blank&#038;m=amazon&#038;lc1=0000FF&#038;bc1=000000&#038;bg1=FFFFFF&#038;f=ifr\" style=\"width:120px;height:240px;\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The film adaptation starred a young sixteen-year-old actress named Dawn O&#8217;Day, which, of course, was itself a stage name for Dawn Paris. <\/p>\n<p>Well, when Dawn took on the role, she also decided to take on the name of her character, Anne Shirley, as her stage name.<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/mv5bmti0njm1mzi4nv5bml5banbnxkftztywoti4njq2_v1_sx302_sy400_.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/center><\/p>\n<p>And for the rest of her film career (which lasted about a decade after the film, which became a big hit for RKO), that was what she was known by.<\/p>\n<p>Shirley had a modestly successful career as a supporting actress, including receiving an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for 1937&#8217;s Stella Dallas.<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/legendsrevealed.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/stella-dallas-37.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><iframe src=\"http:\/\/rcm.amazon.com\/e\/cm?t=legenrevea-20&#038;o=1&#038;p=8&#038;l=as1&#038;asins=B0006TPE0Q&#038;fc1=000000&#038;IS2=1&#038;lt1=_blank&#038;m=amazon&#038;lc1=0000FF&#038;bc1=000000&#038;bg1=FFFFFF&#038;f=ifr\" style=\"width:120px;height:240px;\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I bet that&#8217;s one more nomination than either Pippi Longstocking or Caddie Woodlawn will ever receive!<\/p>\n<p>The legend is&#8230; <\/p>\n<p><u><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">STATUS<\/span><\/u>: True<\/p>\n<p>Feel free (heck, I implore you!) to write in with your suggestions for future installments!
